About Me
Hello, My name is Rakesh and I am a tutor for StudyMind/MedicMind. I studied at St. Olave’s Grammar School and I am a first-year student at Imperial College London. At school, I took on many responsibilities revolving around tutoring and mentoring younger students. We have thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and the students I have worked with found themselves to be more confident and prepared for tests and exams. My students have been able to go on and receive top grades in their GCSEs. I also spent time tutoring students doing year 1 A-level content. A levels are a completely different beast to tackle compared to GCSEs and my students and I work to ensure we are able to approach A-level questions with advanced methods. These students have gone on to find success in their AS exams and have achieved strong predicted grades. All-in-all, I have been tutoring for 3 years now and have gained experience with primary and secondary school students.
My teaching style
My teaching philosophies focus on developing a strong foundation of the core principles in a subject topic. From here I focus on building the student’s understanding by practicing some set questions, and we can reinforce this by pushing the student with challenging questions that requires them to apply their understanding. This is crucial in order to succeed in A-levels and GCSEs. An overlooked, yet important aspect of exams is your mindset as you answer questions. Being confident and keeping an open mind is incredibly important at A-levels and I aim to help the student develop an open, yet unshakable mindset for their exams.
