Nathan
About Me
A life dedicated towards knowledge. I’m Nathan and I’m the teacher that makes the difference. A Cambridge university first class engineering graduate, I’ve spent a lifetime immersed in the pursuit of educational excellence. 10 years as a tutor has seen me work with students from high school to masters and PhD, supporting them in a full spectrum of mathematics, science and engineering disciplines.
My approach to teaching is to focus on instilling deep understanding. I believe such understanding is open to any student provided they develop the right building blocks. The efficacy of my process, of breaking down complicated topics and grounding ideas with pertinent examples, is born out in the results of my students, such as a recent 4.7 GPA for MIT Master of Finance.
I’m a strong advocate of putting knowledge to work in the real world, so outside of tutoring, I have spent the last 10 years working as finance director, strategist and fundraiser within innovative startup ventures. And beyond work I’m a passionate musician and keen mountaineer.
My teaching style
I focus on developing deep understanding with my tutoring. This means that, rather than just memorising facts and figures for an exam, you truly understand the concepts of the material you are learning and will have no difficulty setting your mind to any new problem that is thrown at you.

My Proudest Achievements
I started an innovation strategy consultancy straight after securing my first class degree from Cambridge
I had a few friends who were building startups so initially worked with them for securing innovation funding and creating some of their early tech algorithms
Then I worked with a number of other startups, including a stint in-house as a Head of Innovation, and ran some much bigger projects collaborating with universities
And I wanted to do more directly with the universities, so ended up working alongside Keele university on a UKRI funded project to evaluate and improve their innovation ecosystems
But the sector has become much less enjoyable to work in in the last couple of years or so, as money has become tight across the sector
I’m currently mostly focused on running my highly selective educational consultancy
I founded it to leverage my exceptionally broad Cambridge University engineering degree
We deliver a very holistic service
