Maddie
About Me
Hello! My name is Maddie, and I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Exeter. Having received 4 out of 4 offers for Medicine, I am well-equipped to provide expert guidance on the application process.
I am currently on my clinical placements and enjoy exploring a wide range of clinical specialities. I am particularly interested in pursuing a career in Internal Medicine after medical school.
I am passionate about medical education and leadership, having supported over 60 students in securing offers from medical schools across the UK. I hold multiple committee roles within the medical school, including serving as a medical student lecturer for our largest society and as a peer mentor. In addition, I work with the Exeter Scholars programme to deliver interview preparation, UCAT support, and wider application guidance to aspiring medical students within the local community.
My teaching style
My teaching style is interactive and high-yield, focusing on efficiency and engagement. I tailor all interview practice to the specific medical schools you’re applying to, ensuring that sessions are directly relevant and targeted. I also incorporate role-play exercises (when relevant) to help you build confidence, refine your communication skills, and perform your best on interview day.
My past experience
My teaching experience spans a broad range of subjects, levels, and timeframes. I have supported over 60 students with their medical school applications, including interview preparation and personal statement reviews. In addition, I have worked with allied healthcare applicants — such as nursing, physiotherapy, and physician associate students — to strengthen their university applications.
Alongside medical school admissions tutoring, I regularly teach GCSE and A-Level Psychology, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as GCSE Physics. This diverse experience has allowed me to develop a flexible, person-centred teaching style that adapts to the unique needs of each student.
I also worked as a Teacher of Medicine for six weeks at Oxford, where I led two-week summer school classes for students aged 14–17 who were interested in studying Medicine. I was responsible for lesson planning, teaching, feedback, and report writing for four classes of 12–15 students. I received excellent feedback from both students and management and have been invited to return to teach again next summer.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is receiving 4 out of 4 offers for medical school and being able to use that experience to support future doctors on their own journeys.
