2About Me
Hi My name is Oliver Pritchard Jones and I am a saxophone and music teacher currently training in Leeds.
I have over 10 years experience of saxophone and have had the privilege to study with some of this country’s best saxophonists (Rob Buckland, Sarah Markham, Naomi Sullivan, Chris Gumbley). This combined with the variety of genres I actively work in (Classical, Jazz, Pop, Free improvisation) has made me a very flexible and well rounded musician.
I have been through the UK’s music education system from high school as well as sitting all the ABRSM performance and theory grades up to a diploma in saxophone. This wealth of experience has enabled me to help tutor others and give relevant advice to get through these exams and assesments
More important than any of my past experience is that I am an active profesional who cares deeply about their craft and helping other achieve their musical potential.
My teaching style
I have an open and flexible teaching approach when it comes to music, more so than any other subject area, development is highly individualistic. I aim to nurture that individual sound and presence by backing it up with meaningful technical training allowing any student be able to express themselves artistically with the confidence of strong technique
My past experience
I have taught music from ages 6- 56 and from no experience all the way to preparing for music auditions. I have multiple active students returning weekly
My Proudest Achievements
I have a Diploma in saxophone awarded with distinction in 2021
Royal Welsh School of music offered a Scholarship because of my strong combined classical and jazz audition
I have never scored anything lower than a first in any of my performance projects throughout my current degree
