Alina
About Me
Hi, my name is Alina and I am a 3rd year student studying Psychology at the University of Surrey, due to begin my placement at Great Ormond Street Hospital for my upcoming Professional Training Year. I have a passion for studying Biological Psychology having completed both Psychology and Biology at A-level and seeing how they overlap. I love helping others develop their enthusiasm for learning with experience as a GCSE Science tutor, helping pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds gain confidence in their learning. My goal is to ensure that students not only learn new things and put their skills to practice, but also enjoy learning to help build their confidence. I love to teach topics which pique interest and motivate students to learn more. Outside of teaching, I enjoy volunteering with a strong desire to help others who are struggling with their mental health, and enjoy baking as a hobby in my free time. I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals!
My teaching style
I employ a variety of methods based on how confident you’re feeling about a topic including delivering interactive presentations with checkpoints to check your understanding throughout. I like to include exam practice to really consolidate your knowledge and short quizzes at the start of sessions to refresh your memory. I am a patient and compassionate tutor who doesn’t judge, no matter what your level of ability is.
My past experience
I have previously volunteered with Coachbright, a non-profit organisation where I tutored GCSE Science to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their academic confidence. I prepared interactive sessions and received positive feedback from students that my sessions were dynamic and engaging. I also received the ‘Student Leadership Accreditation Bronze Award’ for my work with Coachbright.
My Proudest Achievements
I am most proud of receiving first class grades for my A-levels including A*A*A and for getting accepted into my first choice university. During my second year of university, I was also successful in securing a placement at Great Ormond Street Hospital, an achievement which will no doubt be extremely valuable for my future career.
