About Me
I love building a passion for learning in every child I meet and watching their confidence and self belief blossom!
The natural world has forever fascinated me. Since becoming a mum, I love to take my children out in the open to get their hands muddy and their minds full of questions. I love a welly walk – especially in the autumn months. My family are a huge part of my life and my interests and activities are always spending time with them.
When having downtime, my family will often say they find me with my nose in a book! Reading is a huge passion and something I use to help me relax. I love to read all genres; fantasy, romance, crime and mystery. I also have a huge love for children’s books which has stemmed from my childhood.
I am a hugely creative person who loves crafts, art and anything using the imagination – even Lego!
My teaching style
Previously a dedicated primary school teacher with classroom experience, with a proven ability to create a positive and imaginative learning environment for all children. As a hardworking and experienced teaching professional, I love working with all children and contributing to their development. Understanding children and making use of different learning styles has been a huge focus over my teaching years. I have been recognised for my work in enhancing the learning experience for pupils and enabling pupils of all ages to get the most from their time in education. I feel I am skilled at developing new ways to encourage pupils, with challenging and inspiring them to deepen their knowledge and understanding.
In the last few years, I have been focused upon building myself as a tutor. This has opened many doors and has widened my experiences to cover upper KS2 preparation and alternative provision for High school aged children. I now fully cover GCSE Maths, English and Science with all students passing to a high standard and showing much improvement in their skills, building their confidence.
My past experience
Yes! I have tutored for many years! I started tutoring back when I owned a performing arts company and students required extra support for their SATs/GCSE preparation! This is where my love of learning stemmed from. I then went on to become a primary school teacher, high school mentor and finally now a private tutor!
My Proudest Achievements
> Building a love of learning for children that have struggled previously.
> Working with alternative provision students who have gone on to achieve GCSEs after being told it wasn’t possible for them.
