We believe financial income should not be a barrier, so up to 40% of our places will be given to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds for absolutely free. →What type of Software Engineering careers does Study Mind cover?
Study Mind offers a wide range of work experience opportunities in the field of Software Engineering. Our programmes cover various software engineering disciplines, providing students with comprehensive and diverse experiences to enrich their understanding of the field.
→ Do I have to live in the UK to do this?
We ensure convenient arrangements for our international students, the majority of whom, approximately 70%, come from overseas. We offer airport pick-up services from Heathrow, where a member of the Study Mind team will greet you upon arrival. If necessary, we can also assist with transportation back to your departure terminal.
→ How old does my child have to be to attend this?
This course is recommended for individuals aged 14-25, which encompasses students in Year 9 or above and graduate entry applicants.
→ What is the cancellation policy?
Once you have booked the Work Experience week, please be aware that it is non-refundable. This policy is in effect because we must make advance arrangements for all logistics, which includes securing accommodation and room bookings. If you're unsure about your availability but still wish to secure your spot, you have the option to do so by paying a non-refundable deposit of £500. The remaining payment will be required before the course commences.
→ Will my child have to travel between sites alone?
Safety is our top priority throughout the Work Experience week. Your child will be under the constant supervision of the Study Mind Safeguarding team during any necessary travel.
→ What is the accommodation like and where will I be staying?
You will be staying in individual rooms at UCL Accommodation, where both breakfast and dinner are included. Your accommodation will be available from the Sunday night before the course begins and students will check out on the final day of the course (Friday), totaling 5 nights. The facility is equipped with 24/7 security, and our Study Mind staff, trained in first aid and safeguarding, will be present on-site to offer assistance. If needed, we can also arrange airport pick-up for your convenience.
→ How do I apply for a visa?
Students coming to the UK for the Work Experience will need a Standard Visitor visa- https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor
The Standard Visitor visa can only be applied for by parents/guardians and costs £100. They must apply through the UK Gov website only, You can name our course and Study Mind as the guardians of under 18s, and provide then the course information and booking confirmation when applying for the visa.
We recommend booking flights first before applying for the visa, as the visa needs proof of a return flight (the course end date might be enough, but might result in rejection).

→ For meals, do you deal with dietary requirements?
A substantial number of our students come from overseas and may have specific dietary preferences and requirements, such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, and more. Be assured that we will carefully consider these dietary needs and make necessary adjustments to ensure your meals are catered to accordingly.

Certainly, before the beginning of the week, we kindly request that you inform us of any existing health conditions you may have, allowing us to take the necessary precautions in advance. We understand the financial challenges that have arisen due to the current economic circumstances, especially regarding upfront payments. To address these challenges, we offer interest-free installment plans for 3, 6, and 12 months. Please be aware that a non-refundable deposit of £500 is required to secure your place.
→ Do I need to book Study Mind's accommodation?
Booking our accommodation is not obligatory. You have the choice to either commute or make your own accommodation arrangements if needed. Nevertheless, there are benefits to selecting our accommodation. Opting for this option allows you to enjoy the support and assistance offered by our dedicated team, and you'll also have the chance to reside with other students taking part in the work experience programmw.
→ Will Study Mind provide certificates for the week?
Certainly! Every student will receive a physical certificate as a tangible confirmation of their successful course completion and active participation. This certificate carries considerable importance, particularly for their UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) applications, as many universities demand proof of involvement.
