I thought that the work experience week structured well because we built on what we learnt each day. Even though session on lab techniques was challenging at first, I ended up really enjoying it. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in biology or science careers

At first, I didn’t really know what to expect but it ended up being a good mix of lab work, fieldwork and careers advice. I loved the day we went to Kew Gardens, it was amazing and made me consider jobs in conservations. After the week I feel more excited about biology in the future.

I liked how hands on the sessions were and I think this made a big difference because I prefer doing things rather than just listening. The environmental sampling that we did on the Thursday was a highlight for me and I found the team running it super friendly and helpful.  I also got loads of ideas for my personal statement on Friday.

I really enjoyed the week and especially going to Kew Gardens. I liked seeing how biology is applied in the real world.  The lab sessions for microscopy and genetics helped me understand way better. After the careers week I feel more confident to start University.
