I am a final year medical student at Flinders University who is about to graduate soon. In addition, to studying medicine at Flinders I have also participated in extracurriculars such as university sports and medrevue, as stage manager. Medrevue which is a musical that is organized by medical students every year.

I moved to Australia 10 years ago and did not have much experience with their tertiary education system. However, my experiences with volunteering and private tutoring helped me build a network which later helped me gain useful advice when trying to seek admission into an undergraduate university course. I believe I would be of use to anyone who needs some mentoring while trying to navigate the tertiary education system in Australia.

The networks I was able to establish during the course of my undergraduate degree helped me a lot when trying to gain admission into medicine in Australia. I studied Bachelors of Biomedicine at University of Melbourne graduating with a First class Honors Average and a GPA of 6.8out of a maximum of 7. I was a subjective representative as well. Following my undergraduate degree a spent an year of honors research with the aged care group at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. As a result of my research I was able to publish articles in reputable journals.

I am currently studying medicine at Flinders where some members of the faculty have let me know that I have been scoring in the top 10 % of students. I am a anatomy/dissection tutor for junior medical students as well

Hello, I’m Ann 🙂 I am a second year medical student at the University of Sheffield. I undertook a gap year abroad and saw how medicine differs between countries and found it very eye opening. I am familiar with and enjoy tutoring different entrance exams like CASPER and the UCAT as well as Biology, EPQ and Psychology at A-level and a variety of GCSE subjects. I have also successfully completed entrance exams for medical schools in Bulgaria so have experience with those tests and can help with that too. I have been where you are and understand how stressful these different exams can be so I am here to help! My teaching style is very interactive and student based so you can get eveything you need from session. The goal is to make lessons informative and useful but also enjoyable and give you a better understanding about your chosen subject.

Syed was great to work with, he was very knowledgeable and explained content thoroughly and clearly. He provided great foundational knowledge, however a lot of the resources used weren’t reflective of the content that appeared in the actual exam.

I appreciated the fact that the tutor set forth the expectations that are to be met in a medical interview. Especially, on the part where he mentioned that I have to be diplomatic. That comment made me realise the flaw in my perception and answers previously. Also, I learnt that I have to show some empathy regarding any scenarios being presented to me and this helped for my interview specifically as it was heavily scenario based. Lastly, the tutor sent me a lot of quality articles which pointed out the intricacies in medical equality & equity. This helped me loads in putting forth my personal ambition in wanting to med in a factual and appealing manner to the interviewer. Though I booked only 2 hours with this tutor, I felt he really made it worth my time by giving concise coaching on the key points that could help me ace the interview given the short amount of time I had to prepare under.

Sara was super helpful and gave me so many great tips and advice on tweaking my answers. She's easy to talk to and clearly knows what the interviewers expect from us, providing useful feedback after practice roleplays and questions. I'd highly recommend her to anyone who wants that extra boost and knowledge on structuring and making your answers stand out! Thankyou for your help.
