My name is Silas and I am a Final Year Medical Student at the University of Sheffield. Prior to studying Medicine, I gained a First Class Degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Birmingham; my degree allowed me to apply to Undergraduate Medicine as a graduate. I can offer a unique perspective for students looking for alternate routes into Medicine and on the importance placed on varied interests by Medical Schools across the country.

As a Sheffield Medical student, I am the President of the Sheffield Emergency Medicine Society and am a member of medical societies such as Sheffield Friends of MSF and Wilderness Medicine. I am also a Community First Responder which involves responding to emergencies in the area with lifesaving equipment before the ambulance arrives. My specific areas of interest within Medicine are: Emergency Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, Pre-Hospital Medicine, Humanitarian Medicine, and Disaster Medicine.

I also completed a History and French BA for my undergraduate at Somerville College, Oxford and got a First Class. I’ve been tutoring for several years now so I have lots of experience, and I really enjoy being able to help students wherever I can.
