About The Crypt School

The Crypt School is a distinguished boys’ grammar school holding expertise in science and languages. Despite being smaller than the average-sized secondary school, it stands out for its academic excellence. The school warmly embraces girls into its sixth form, along with students from two local grammar schools. The student demographics represent a blend, mirroring the diversity found in many schools. As a converted academy, The Crypt School promises a rich academic experience for young minds.

Admissions Requirements

As outlined in the Code, during the normal admissions round, parents must apply to the Local Authority in which they live for places at their preferred schools. All preferences are collated and parents then receive an offer from their Local Authority at the highest preference school at which a place is available. For admission, students must excel in the 11+ Admissions Test, which gauges their verbal, mathematical, and non-verbal reasoning skills.

Application Process

Children attending The Crypt School are automatically registered for the 11+ test, except in cases where parents opt out. Independent school attendees and others must apply for testing through the Testing Administrator. Additionally, all applicants must notify their home Local Authority of their school preference before the annual closing date set by the Local Authority.
