Mark
About Me
Hi! My name is Mark and I am a HPAT Tutor with Medic Mind. I have prepared and worked with students who have sat the HPAT Exam to great success. The HPAT is a difficult exam, however, with hard work and dedication it is an achievable goal for anyone.
I am currently a 2nd Year Medical Student in University College Cork. I have a deep passion for medicine and helping other people. Helping others is one of the driving motivators for why I became a HPAT Tutor!
Aside from academics, I have interests in music and sport. I also enjoy reading books, which I believe develops my mind and abilities across various aspects of my life.
I have a diverse range of HPAT tactics and skills to offer students, which I tailor to the individual student’s needs.
Others describe me as approachable, friendly and helpful – key skills to have in your HPAT Tutor!
My teaching style
The HPAT is a challenging, unconventional exam and so I encourage open-minded thinking in all my students. I tailor my approach to the individual student and focus on where they feel they need to improve the most.
My approach involves teaching students proven strategies that have worked for me and many other students. I also have a number of books I would encourage the student to read to enhance both their critical-thinking and interpersonal understanding skills.
I also use some new concepts and skills I have learned from medical school to improve the student’s interpersonal understanding, such as discussing the Biological, psychological and sociological aspects of health.
It is also crucial to have a strong mindset for the HPAT Exam, which I work on with my students.
I believe through my diverse experience from HPAT Preparation, Medical School and other aspects of life, I have developed an effective, concrete teaching style to prepare students to achieve their HPAT potential!
My past experience
I have prepared and advised students who sat HPAT 2021
I prepared alongside fellow HPAT candidates during my own HPAT experience and taught them skills whilst also learning from them.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements was getting into Medical School. It was a journey that required a lot of work but was ultimately well worth it. I was proud to have my HPAT Excellence recognised when I received a Bursary of Excellence for Section 3 of HPAT.
I also take great pride in watching a student grow and improve their skills and recognise their own potential.
