Roheena
About Me
Hi! My name is Roheena and I’ve just finished my degree in PPE at Merton College, Oxford. In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, volunteering with charities I care about and learning new languages (currently working on my Mandarin).
Throughout my studies I, like most people, have had ups and downs, but I’m a firm believer that if you are willing to stick at something, it will work out, whatever your goal is. For me, my goal was nine level nines at GCSE and going to Oxford; I’m pleased to say I’ve had a wonderful time doing both. While I don’t yet know what your goals are, I’m keen to be with you as you work towards achieving them!
Pre-warning: I have a very cute (I promise!) cat called Winter who I love very much. I cannot promise she won’t feature in the background of a video camera if given sufficient opportunity. I can promise you will have all of my attention, however jealous she may be.
My teaching style
For Oxbridge admissions: As JCR President, I’ve been a participant in College-level and University-level meetings about admissions policy and access and outreach committee meetings. As a result, I’m particularly well-placed to help with interviews, TSA preparation, and college choice (yes, this is important). Every individual is different, so my approach will always start with you, then use data and iterative approaches to help you achieve the best results.
For subject tuition: When working towards subject goals, I hope to build a supportive environment from which we can work to set goals and untangle any specific issues.
General: I do believe in homework; I also believe in getting it back to you quickly. I plan to integrate this into tutoring the same way that it is run at Oxford, as I’ve found it to be very effective. That said, we’ll make sure to design it in a way that is built around your needs and supports rather than competes with your studies.
My past experience
I have two years experience tutoring intermediate to advanced French and, separately, GCSE Maths.
I have further supported with Oxbridge admissions workshops and more general university admissions more generally.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is successfully climbing multiple hills in the Pyrenees in very-much-not-walking-shoes.
