About Me
Hi, my name is Arnav Gupta. I am a motivated and enthusiastic first year computer science and maths student at Imperial College London with a keen interest in AI and the theoretical mathematical underpinnings of computer systems. I have just graduated from college at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, where I developed my strong academic background. I have founded and ran coding and math societies for 4+ years; this has allowed me to refine my communication skills in large groups of people. For the last two years, I have supplemented this skill with 1 on 1 tutoring. My goal is to help more people achieve their goals through tutoring. As someone who has been at the bottom of the year to the top in 2 different grammar schools, I believe I can make an effective tutor to anyone at any level in their school journey
My teaching style
My tutoring style relies on analysis and action. At first, I analyse my student’s level through initial tests. Then once I have a grasp of my students strengths and weaknesses I devise an action plan on how to best impact this student. For example, once I analyse the students weakest topics I would create a dated plan detailing when the topics must be taught by. I follow this on by teaching the student how to effectively apply the knowledge they have just learned through questions I have filtered through from different exam boards, past papers, International A-levels etc.
I make sure to take personal accountability for my students where I treat any of their failures and successes as a reflection on my own tutoring and thus I have vested interest in any student I tutor. Feedback is also tremendously important to me and I am always trying to implement any personal feedback a student/ parents wants to provide into all of my lessons.
My past experience
I have mentored two students in their GCSEs as an AS level student for maths. These students were stuck at 6-7 in their GCSE. In a span of 3 months, I prepared them for their GCSEs where they both achieved 9s. Following on, I tutored an A-level math student move up from a B to an A* while I was preparing for my A-levels. This experience taught me how to continue tutoring even under stressful periods of my life by improving my time management. Currently, I tutoring two students prepare for their A-level resits in computer science. We aim to bring their grades up from B and C to A* and A respectively.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is helping others succeed while also achieving personal success. Seeing the positive impact I’ve had on others’ growth and development, alongside my own progress, is incredibly fulfilling.
