Ananya
About Me
Hi! My name is Ananya and I am a second year medical student at the University of Birmingham.
I applied to the University of Birmingham, Newcastle, Leicester, and KCL. I would love to share my experiences with the different interview styles, including MMIs and panel, UCAT preparation, and tips for writing good personal statements.
I am also an international student from India, and being an international applicant can be very daunting! I would further love to assist with information on choosing the right university, chances of getting in, navigating the UCAS application process coming from abroad, and more!
I want to share my knowledge from my experiences with the UCAT preparation and interviews, through MedicMind.
Outside of medicine, my hobbies include dancing, reading, and playing tennis!
I am super passionate about teaching and I’m here to support you 🙂
My teaching style
I love making classes interactive and fun! Instead of just reading off presentations, I believe in giving my students ample opportunities to practice. Whether it’s acing a test like the UCAT or preparing for interviews, practice is key. After each tutoring session, I focus on reflection and feedback because they’re crucial for improvement, both for my students and myself as their tutor.
Beyond just delivering information, my tutoring revolves around fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment. I am not just your tutor, but also your mentor and cheerleader, and will motivate you to overcome challenges and celebrating your triumphs!
My past experience
I have experience teaching kids aged 5-15 with Kumon, specializing in math and English. I’ve also remotely taught biology to underprivileged children in India. Additionally, I founded biology and German clubs at my school, using these platforms to share knowledge with like-minded students. Through these experiences, I’ve learnt the importance of adapting communication techniques to individual students, addressing their weaknesses. This involves incorporating visual elements and presenting myself as a friend rather than just a teacher to make classes enjoyable.
