Afreen
About Me
Hi! My name is Afreen and I just started my third year at Aston University. I completed the CBSE curriculum until grade 10 after which I switched to the IB Diploma Programme for my final two years of school. I also did and International Foundation Programme for Medicine prior to applying for medicine at Aston University and UCLan. All of these experiences tested my resilience to pursue a degree in medicine and I understand first hand the lack of motivation one might face in the process of applying to medicine.
When studying IB, I really enjoyed Psychology, Spanish and English aside from Biology as well as doing other activities such as volunteering. IB also teaches you a lot about time management and improving your work-life balance which is essential in navigating medical school.
A career in the medical field requires a lot of patience and determination; I, myself have questioned my capabilities multiple times which is why I would like to help as many students as I can in pursuing their dream 🙂
My teaching style
Personally, I prefer learning through visual aids such as videos and diagrams. I also like doing practice questions as a means of active recall. However, I understand that every student learns differently and I would like to cater to each individuals needs and what might work best for them.
My past experience
I do mentoring for In2MedSchool. I also have some experience teaching English to younger kids between the ages of 4-13
My Proudest Achievements
Spending a week in India helping an underprivileged school with their annual day function. It is truly one of my favourite memories for a lot of reasons.
