About Me

Hi!

I’m a student at Oxford University, and just finished my first year reading Law. I’ve been tutoring students for almost a year now, and have loved every session. I’m always dedicated to my tutoring not because I’m forced to be, but because I genuinely enjoy watching my students grow over the weeks, get those lightbulb moments, and flourish in exams.

I understand that applying to top universities can be quite a daunting process, just as it was for me. Through tutoring, I hope not only to improve the academic ability of my students, but also to improve their confidence so no option seems unreachable.

I’ve studied Maths, Sciences and Social Sciences all at varying levels, and so my background and areas of teaching are quite varied. Whilst I may be studying law today, just a year ago Maths was by far my best (and favourite) subject, so I’m more than happy teaching any of the subjects listed!

My teaching style

I’ve absolutely loved studying the law, and the best part by far was discussing issues with my peers and reaching conclusions. I try and take a similar approach in teaching, where I view the student as my equal, discussing the question until they are guided towards the answer. I prefer to help students reason through questions themselves rather than simply tell them how to solve it outright, as I believe this approach is far better in the long run.

My past experience

In the past, I’ve tutored several students in the past over a period of roughly 10 months. Since I ended first-year, I’ve taught the LNAT for a short period of time. Prior to that, I’ve covered Physics up to a GCSE level, as well as occasional English. Additionally, I’ve tutored tutored Maths up to an Advanced Higher level, which is the Scottish equivalent of A-level, although I’ve taught GCSE Maths in the past as well.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement is probably my performance in my first-year exams at University, where I was awarded for performing the best overall out of my cohort.
