About Me
Current medical student at the University of Bristol going into my final year study with a distinction in MRes Health sciences research during my intercalation year. I have always been passionate about medical education and the widening participation programme as demonstrated through my various jobs and volunteering work. I have particularly enjoyed tutoring the medical school interview courses as well as running mock interviews for prospective students. My students have been successfully accepted into a number of outstanding medical schools, both in the UK and in Australia. I have also been part of the Bristol medical school’s MMI panels for medicine for the last two years which has provided me with a great insight into the real process as well as an update to the current medical school interview layout. My clear understanding of the marking criteria and what the examiners are looking for will greatly benefit aspiring medical students in preparation for their interviews.
My teaching style
I would like to establish the student’s strength and weakness in the beginning of the tuition period so I can better tailor my material to their needs. With interview practice, I prefer to let the student have a go at a particular question, then ask for their feedback on their answer. Then I would provide my own feedback and go through the exam techniques/what the interviewer is looking for with the student followed by asking them to answer the same question again and try to apply the technique I have taught them just now.
My Proudest Achievements
One student that I have provided tuition to did not manage to get any medical school offers in their first year of application and was rejected shortly after the only interview he had that year. During his gap year, he wished to reapply and I have provided tailored tuition sessions to help with his medical school interviews. As a result, he received 3 offers from the universities that had invited him for an interview.
