About Me
Hello, My name is Betsy Gibson and I am a current Second year undergraduate at the University of Bristol. Studying Geography, I have a passion for the physical topics, especially Glaciation and earth systems. On top of this I also have also have a keen interest for areas of human geography such as migration. I also studied Art and Sociology A level and developed a passion for both subjects, still doing research on both now. I really enjoy helping others to learn and hope to aid students to achieve higher grades no matter what level they are at. I find enjoyment in allowing others to feel more confident in their skills and ability to do well in exams as well as coursework. I have experience in volunteering with young children and so believe i have strong communication skills and thrive in watching people achieve their goals.
My teaching style
I base my teaching style off those that have proved to be most successful when reflecting on my own weaknesses and through helping my sister study for her GCSE’s. My teaching style would be based around an assessment of the students current attainment and evaluating weaknesses. From here, I would help to mind map any gaps in knowledge and plan questions, especially where longer essay questions can be challenging. Through time, I would test the student to make sure they have a thorough understanding and eventually have them planning and writing questions alone.
My past experience
I have helped my sister to study and plan questions for her GCSEs specifically in geography.
