6About Me
I’m an Economics Graduate from the University of Cambridge (Trinity College) who currently works in finance (Credit). Born in Newcastle, but raised in Birmingham, I attended a selective state school where I was able to thrive and equipped with the skills that still aid me in professional life. I understand that the ability to perform well largely comes from the confidence that comes from having a well built world view, and that only through active approaches can one have the security of understanding to excel in challenging and unexpected situations.
I have plenty of experience teaching others, not only as a tutor, but also as a tennis and chess coach in my youth and to incoming cohorts of interns professionally. I’ve been fortunate to work with many types of people, and have some amazing professors and teachers in the past, trying to incorporate the methods that I’ve been educated with,
My teaching style
I believe the best way to improve is practice in a supervision style approach. This means the student trying to do a question first, however confident, and trying to explain what they thought. Not only does this emulate college interviews, but also provides the basis for more active learning.
My past experience
Yes, I have provided career tutoring (securing roles at Investment banks), and Cambridge Economics Admissions tutoring – specifically interview preparation
My Proudest Achievements
Due to recency bias these are largely professional achievements, namely successful positions on Oil & Gas credit names. Academically, achieving full UMS in all GCSEs bar two (where I was within 3 UMS off), achieving the highest grades in my school and associated scholarship, becoming president of the University Economics society. Also proud of my Hockey team’s recent promotion last campaign
