3About Me
Hi! My name is Matthew Levine and I am a recent graduate in History and Politics from the University of Cambridge. I ranked second in my year at Cambridge, and won prizes for my dissertation, as well as multiple awards for my performance in the degree. Having left Cambridge, I am now spending a year in the United States at the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy. Next year, I will return to the University of Cambridge to complete a PhD in History.
I have been a tutor for over three years now, with a wide range of teaching areas but a focus on Oxbridge admissions, essay competitions, and History A-Levels. Many of my students have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge, and a healthy proportion have also won prestigious essay competitions such as the John Locke Institute Essay Competition. I am looking forward to meeting you!
My teaching style
For admissions, I work with students at every stage to ensure their application is excellent and they are well prepared for the interview stage. I place an emphasis on assigned work, set for students to complete outside of our sessions, and interview practice.
Similarly, for other areas the focus is on students bringing and discussing work I have assigned. I encourage students to try and take command of their sessions as far as possible and to ask questions, though I will always have a structure ready.
My past experience
I have tutored for over four years, and as part of my current position I am a teaching assistant at a University in the United States.
My Proudest Achievements
Undoubtedly receiving a First Class Honours with Distinction from Cambridge, but doing it without ever drinking a single cup of coffee too!
