About Me
HI – my name is Ishir ; I am currently studying Medicine at Imperial College London. I love teaching Maths, Biology and Chemistry all the way from KS3 to A-Level standard – I received A* in all three subjects as well as all 9s at GCSE (with additional subjects such as German, Geography, History and IT) from Langley Grammar School. After setting up my own tuition company Sophos tuition, and having taught in workshops, assemblies, interventions as well as private tutoring, I have become addicted to the satisfaction you receive when your student is able to apply the content correctly to an unknown scenario. I am loving medicine and have a particular passion for oncology – the reason I want to do the degree is to give people the independence to take back control of their own health. Tutoring has always been a passion for mine and the more I teach the more I love it! I would love to get started and share my advice – please give me a shout for anything I am here to help ; from UCAT/BMAT to the trickiest aromatic compounds. Thank you 🙂
My teaching style
My teaching style is all based off exam specifications depending on the board ; it is broken down into 3 key areas. It begins with an interactive recap which is very integrated and interwoven to lay the foundations of the content we are going to learn – this method of active learning (using flashcards, mind maps and blurting) is KEY for GCSE and A-Level ; these resources study mind and myself will provide. The second area is actually teaching the content using the whiteboard so that you can UNDERSTAND rather than simply memorise – this is where a lot of students get confused and everything will be clarified. Finally – and probably the most important – is applying this content to unknown scenarios and exam questions (also setting hw) – THIS is where it all comes out and we will focus particularly on exam technique to polish off and ensure no silly marks are lost – it is ALL about exam technique.
