Sameed
About Me
Hi! My name is Sameed and I’m so excited to be your Medic Mind tutor! When you’re a student your time gets eaten up by a lot of things. Revision, placements, societies, socialising – it never ends. What’s amazing about it all is knowing that it’s all been shaped by the hard work you put in when it counted and accessing the help that you needed to get you there. A lot of things are extremely fulfilling when you’re a medic but being able to pay forward the help you received and make it a reality for new people has to be pretty high on the list.
On top of having received 4/4 successful offers and being nominated for a scholarship for my interview performance at Imperial College London, I have taken part in innumerable Interview and Personal Statement training days. This started when I was President of my School’s Medical Society where I arranged training courses with Doctors who have sat on interview panels for various Universities. In the years since joining Medical School I have been a volunteer interviewer for various schemes like PotMed and PathwayToMed and have returned to my school to be an interviewer for the next set of students applying from my school. This has meant I have a range of experience and in depth understanding of what candidates need to be showing and how/why they can fall short.
Everyone that seriously considers applying for Medical School has a huge amount of potential for success. What matters is whether they tap into that. Unfortunately, the hurdles they put in front of you during the admissions process can trip you up pretty easy. But once you know exactly how to navigate those same problems and overcome the challenges in a way that’s authentic to you and your passion for this course, you’re sure to come through it more confident in yourself and your choices.
My teaching style
My teaching style is entirely student focused. What I’ve found is that each applicant has highly particular needs. That’s because the interview and statement is meant to be such a reflection of your exact individual outlook and personality type. Doing well at these admissions stages simply means doing well at presenting yourself. While there will be solid principles like confident tone, reflective statements etc. it’s also much more effective to identify the exact needs of the individual. By building an understanding of you and your strengths and priorities I will be able to better give you a plan on how to express it in the most effective way that meets the admissions checkboxes and also makes you personable and memorable.
