About Me

Hi, my name is Niamh and I’d love to become your tutor! I’ve just finished the third year of my medical degree at Leeds and thought that a part-time job as a tutor would be perfect for me.

I’m very friendly, understanding and easy to talk to and I think I can provide a comfortable learning environment that encourages progress.

I’m from Cambridge originally and went to Hills Road Sixth Form College which is well known for having hardworking and high-achieving students. The learning tools and habits which I picked up here have been very valuable to me and I hope to pass them on to others.

I put a lot of work into getting the grades I achieved and securing a place at university, so I completely understand what it’s like to have to give some extra energy into improving and getting to the level you need to be.

Hopefully you will consider me as your tutor and I look forward to helping you!

My teaching style

I want to create a learning environment where the student doesn’t have to feel pressured or nervous about attending.
I ask lots of questions and facilitate the student to push themselves as much as they can, but will also provide explanation, repetition and demonstration to aid their learning.

My past experience

I tutored German for a foundation level for around 6 months to help the children of a family prepare to move to Germany. I made my own resources and provided 1-2 hour long lessons which I received good feedback for.

My Proudest Achievements

Academically, my proudest achievement will always be getting into medical school. I’m the first person in my family to go to university and getting a place felt like a big hurdle. A close second is passing my third year exams recently. They were very intellectually demanding and pushed me for the first time since A-levels.

Outside of school or university, one of my proudest achievements is the half-marathon that I ran a few months ago. I went from not being able to run even 1 kilometre to running the full half-marathon, so I am very proud of myself for that!
