About Me

Hi! I’m Amber, I am a second year Veterinary Medicine Student at the University of Cambridge. I am a passionate and dedicated student looking to share my academic tips and commitment to learning with the realm of tutoring. In my A levels I achieved three A*s in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, which gives me a solid foundation of teaching for the subjects I have chosen to tutor. I also received 11 GCSE grades with 10 Grade 9s and 1 Grade 8. To receive my place in Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge University, I completed the NSAA. I have also experienced the entrance exam structure including the ISEB entrance exams.

Beyond my core academic studies, I undertook an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) on the expression of mental illness in art which developed core research and analytical skills that I have used since. Throughout my time at secondary school into sixth form, I was awarded an academic scholarship for 7 years (starting in year 7), along with an Art scholarship for 5 (starting in year 9).

My academic journey has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the subjects I tutor. Due to my degree being heavily stem based, I bring a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical insight, and further understanding of many topics.

By choosing me as a tutor, you invest in a dedicated and accomplished individual who is both well-versed in the academic standards of biology, chemistry, and maths, and in application processes ranging between the 11+ exams to a Cambridge Veterinary Medicine application. I am excited about the opportunity this will give me to guide and inspire students on their academic journey, and I have full confidence that my educational background and passion for teaching and helping others will make a meaningful impact on others’ education.

My teaching style

I have a range of teaching styles that can be used depending on how the student learns best. They will all start with an initial conversation to figure out needs/goals, what level to start at, any problem topics, and which way they learn best. I usually use diagrams or visual explanations along with clarifying explanations to get certain points across, allowing for questions or requests to go over topics again at intervals throughout.

My Proudest Achievements

One of my proudest achievements was getting a place studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge as it is ranked as one of the top universities for Veterinary Medicine. I am also proud to have held an academic scholarship for 7 years throughout my secondary and sixth form experience.
