About Me
Hi! My name’s Gemma. I’m a 21 year old bilingual student (Italian mother and British father) who studies Chemistry at the University of Bath. I’ve finished my second year and am currently doing my year abroad in Berlin. I’ve been a tutor for over 2 years with another company in Italy where I taught students of different ages as well as privately. I also used to help out during sixth form in Chemistry workshops, where I assisted Year 12 students with their homework or understanding topics. I’m a positive person who aims to make the student as comfortable as possible by building a bond with them and helping them gain confidence alongside teaching them. I got an interview from Oxford so I am familiar with the questions and preparation required for the interview as well as an interview from Imperial College London, where I also got an offer from.
My teaching style
When teaching I try to get the student to think about the answer on their own, helping out by giving hints or underlying bits in the question that help find the answer. If I’m teaching a new topic I like to use visual aids (such as drawing on a whiteboard as I’m talking).
My past experience
Yes, I’ve been tutoring for over 2 year.
