About Me
Hi, I’m Zheqing, a 5th year medical student at the University of Oxford. I am an international student from Singapore who received offers from the University of Oxford and Nanyang Technological University Singapore, as well as an interview offer from Imperial College London (which I declined) in the 2019/2020 application cycle. At A Levels, I studied Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and China Studies in Chinese, as well as Advanced Biology, General Paper and Project Work, achieving A (equivalent of A* in the UK) in all subjects, including 3 High Distinctions and 3 Distinctions. In medical school, I have consistently achieved Distinction in my examinations and was awarded college prizes and scholarships (Fitzgerald Prize and East Scholarship) for excellent academic performance in both my first and second years. In my third year, I ranked second and was awarded the prestigious Gibbs Prize and Wronker Grant for excellent performance in the Final Honour School of Medical Sciences, attaining a First Class Degree. Besides representing the Oxford University Badminton Club in national competitions, I have also been involved in various clubs and societies including Widening Participation Medics Network (WPMN), the Oxford Medical Students’ Society (MedSoc), Students for Global Health (SfGH) Oxford, and a college-run charity that brings children from disadvantaged families on holiday. My experience involves tutoring for several years, conducting interview workshops with STEP inTO OxMed and other voluntary tutoring positions, and I am passionate about widening participation in medicine. Helping aspiring medics get into medical school brings me immense joy and fulfillment.
My teaching style
My teaching style involves providing general frameworks for success, as well as tips and advice from my personal experience. I try to be open, approachable and non-judgmental, and encourage students to ask questions. My lessons will involve a lot of practice and feedback, as I believe that is the best way to learn and improve.
My past experience
My experience involves five years of medicine application and interview tutoring, conducting interview workshops with STEP inTO OxMed and other voluntary tutoring positions. Additionally, I previously worked as a private tutor for secondary school and junior college students, with a combination of in-person and online lessons. Through that, I helped my students with schoolwork and grade improvements with highly positive feedback.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting an offer for Oxford Medicine is definitely one of my proudest achievements, as well as achieving A (equivalent of A* in the UK) in all subjects at A-Levels, including 3 High Distinctions and 3 Distinctions.
