About Me
Hello!
I’m David and I have just finished my 3rd year of Engineering at Cambridge. I am a patient, friendly person, offering tutoring all the way from KS3 maths and science to Oxbridge admissions. I have been tutoring for just under 3 years and have tutored in a wide range of areas; I love to see the progression of students gaining confidence and become fluent in areas that once seemed really tough. Super passionate about engineering, I believe a thorough intuitive grasp of concepts is essential for subject mastery, hence in my lessons I try and foster a deep creative and intuitive understanding.
I have prior experience preparing students for Engineering and NatSci admissions, assisting with specific entrance exams and mock interviews, and also have guided a number of students throughout the University application process and offered personal statement advice.
My teaching style
Super passionate about engineering, I believe a thorough intuitive grasp of concepts is essential for subject mastery, hence in my lessons I try and foster a deep creative and intuitive understanding to explain complex concepts. Of course each tutees needs are different, so the lesson will be tailored to fit the students goals.
My past experience
I have been tutoring since January 2022, and I have accumulated well over 200 hours tutoring different students in a variety of different subjects, all the way from KS3 to Cambridge admissions.
I started tutoring by placing ad’s on various different websites during my first year at University. From these websites, the main tutees I taught were:
• KS3/GCSE Science
• A level Chemistry
• A level Further maths
• Natural Science admissions: NSAA practice and mock interviews
Then, I met a lady through a friend who works closely with International French schools, and have been working with her for over a year. I deactivated my profiles on these websites and exclusively worked with her. Here, I have:
• Guided a student through Engineering University selection and helped them with their personal statement
• SAT Math
• GCSE Maths
• ESAT + offered personal statement advice
• TMUA
I have received many positive reviews for my tutoring, and students generally find my lessons really helpful.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest moment is juggling the many things I was balancing in my third year: A really tough degree with a speedboat building society, sport, tutoring and a good social life. What was really rewarding was building the katamaran style hydrofoiling boat in Monaco, watching all our hard work and progress unfold.
