About Me

I am a graduate of King’s College London, with a degree in Critical Theory. Sociology and social philosophy, as well as literature and film, formed major parts of my academic research at university. I am a keen, critically-oriented tutor, eager to interact with a breadth of students. Education is the only space where a wealth of ideas may circulate amongst people with no inherent hierarchy, and I want to channel this potential into productive, progressive goals. I thrive on building new connections and engaging in thoughtful conversations, encouraging practices of mutual respect and open-mindedness no matter whom I am talking to. Being a tutor does not mean that one is “superior” to those they are tutoring; instead, it merely signals more experience which, when communicated with nuance and complexity, allows for a two-way exchange rather than a top-down teacher-student relationship. I look forward to working with you!

My teaching style

I approach teaching using a “horizontal pedagogy”, rather than a vertical one. What this means is that I enter the tutoring relationship not as someone who simply “delivers” information to the student, but rather as someone who sees the student as an equal, giving them the necessary tools to make syntheses and grow on their own merit.

My past experience

I have been a Study Mind tutor for six months now. Additionally, during the final year of my undergraduate degree, I acted as a peer mentor to the incoming batch of students (first-year undergraduates/freshers), helping them settle into college life and organise their academic schedules, hosting workshops and seminars on various topics, and providing them with administrative support. Apart from this, I have supervised teams at university who wanted to run creative projects such as podcasts and films. I also have experience reviewing, proofreading, and providing constructive feedback for academic essays and articles.

My Proudest Achievements

I am most proud of my ability to think critically, originally, and diversely. When I look back, I am proud of the trajectory my life has taken, and of the knowledge I have gained at every step. I am also very happy to have produced several creative projects with incredibly talented teams: an original podcast, several short films, plays, and more. I am also quite confident in my strong writing ability, which I have honed over years, and which has served me very well in the most unexpected situations (including this one)!
