My name is Malika and I hold a PhD in Biological Sciences, specialising in Molecular Cell Biology, from one of the top 10 universities in the UK.
With years of experience in academic research and mentoring students at the university, I am passionate about making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging. I offer tutoring in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and quantitative research analysis using statistics up to the university level and Mathematics up to the GCSE level. I also have extensive experience with writing personal statements for undergraduate, master’s and PhD programmes.
During my PhD, I also gained additional tutoring perspective on scientific writing skills as an examiner for university coursework and examinations.
My approach is tailored to each student’s learning style, strengths, and focus points. I aim to build their confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and writing skills which are all essential skills to develop throughout their academic journey.

My teaching style
I believe that every student is unique. For this reason, I prefer getting to know the student’s strengths and areas of concern before developing a tailored teaching plan. using this information, I aim to set achievable goals for the student. This helps focus on areas of improvement and reflect on their progress to boost their confidence.
My past experience
I have previously tutored sixth-form students on study skills, biology and chemistry.
I also hold 3 years of experience teaching 1st and 2nd-year undergraduate students with statistics, biology, research skills and laboratory techniques.
Additionally, I hold 2 years of experience as a freelancer to help students edit their personal statements to assist their university applications.
My Proudest Achievements
Achieving a PhD in Biological Sciences.
The opportunity to mentor sixth-form students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds with a 90% success rate when applying for university.
