About Me

Hi, my name is Emilia and I’m a fourth year medical student and Humphrey Davy Rolleston Scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge. I have just completed my intercalated degree year in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, in which I achieved a First Class. I have a passion for helping others achieve their goals, whether that be academically excelling or succeeding in getting into medicine, and am keen to share the techniques I used to get to where I am today. I was in the top 1% of students in my UCAT, achieving 3250, and got 6.2, 7.3 and 4A in my BMAT. I went to St Paul’s Girls’ School, achieving all 9s and A*s in my GCSEs and A Levels and receiving offers at 11+ from Godolphin and Latymer, Latymer Upper School, Lady Eleanor Holles School and Notting Hill and Ealing High School. I tutor mainly in 11+ English and Maths, GCSE and A Level Biology, Chemistry and Maths and applications to medical school, but am open to tutoring in other requested areas as well.

My teaching style

I believe that finding ways to make students really enjoy whatever I’m helping them with is the key to success. Each session is therefore highly student specific and tailored to complement what the student finds is a helpful way to learn.

My past experience

I have 50+ hours in teaching experience from 2018 to present, including advice on applying to medical school and Oxbridge. I have been asked by St John’s College to supervise undergraduate medical students in Biology of Disease, a 2nd year module, which is a testament to my ability to teach as well as my interests in medical science! I have been I started off volunteering as a nursery teaching assistant, where I taught English to nursery-aged children who were learning it as a second language. I also tutored GCSE Maths and Chemistry, with my candidates achieving 9s; this was a great success considering many previously struggled with the material. During my gap year I tutored 11+ Maths and English, which allowed me to develop my abilities in creating lesson plans that were interesting for the younger age demographic. I also tutored A Level Chemistry and Maths, which I hugely enjoyed.

My Proudest Achievements

Receiving a First Class in my intercalated year at Cambridge in Biological Natural Sciences (Physiology, Development and Neuroscience), as well as a receiving a Humphrey Davis Rolleston Scholarship from St John’s College, Cambridge. Once you get to Cambridge you are surrounded by incredibly talented individuals, and therefore I’m extremely proud that I was able to achieve this! I’m also super proud of playing tennis for the University of Cambridge :).
