About Me
Hi, I’m Alessandro! I studied PPE at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, where I graduated with a 2.1 in July 2022 and achieved the highest mark in the PPE cohort in the Econometrics finals paper. I was also awarded an Open Scholarship for academic excellence in my first year (2020). I recently completed a master’s degree in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at LSE, graduating with a Distinction and ranking 2nd in my cohort, for which I was jointly awarded the Ely Devons Prize. Prior to university, I was one of 275 out of 86,826 students worldwide to achieve a score of 45 in the International Baccalaureate (HL Maths, Latin and Ancient Greek). I have provided end-to-end support to students applying to Oxford PPE, helping them write their personal statement and prepare for the TSA and interviews, so I am keenly aware of how intimidating the process can be and how it can be simplified. 2 of my students achieved offers to study PPE at Oxford in the latest admissions cycle. I have also worked with students taking IB Maths and participated in teaching community projects for 4 years. In my spare time, I enjoy running and ran the Brighton Marathon in 2022; I am also currently learning Spanish. I am very excited to share my passion for PPE and Maths with students and help them develop their self-confidence, subject knowledge and critical thinking skills so that they can achieve their academic goals. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your academic journey!
My teaching style
I am an enthusiastic, passionate and organised teacher. I carefully plan my sessions beforehand so that they run as smoothly as possible. During the sessions, I always engage with the students and ask them lots of questions in order to test their prior knowledge of the topic, to explore their thoughts and ideas and to check that they have absorbed the material that has been presented.
My past experience
I have extensive experience providing end-to-end support to students applying to Oxford PPE, helping them write their personal statement and prepare for the TSA and interviews; 2 of my students achieved offers to study PPE at Oxford in the latest admissions cycle. I have also tutored GCSE and IB HL Maths. Finally, when I was in secondary school, I participated community projects for 4 years, teaching a variety of subjects, including ab initio Latin and journalism, to local primary school children.
My Proudest Achievements
Academically, my proudest achievements are obtaining a 45 in the International Baccalaureate and ranking 2nd in the cohort in my master’s. I am also very proud of having won a gold medal at the National Schools’ Regatta in the J15 1st Eights category.
