Gili
About Me
Hi! My name is Gili and I’m a 2nd year medical student at St George’s University of London
I’m happy to tutor UCAT, Interviews, and sciences at GCSE and A-Level. Having done all of these in the past few years, I have a deep knowledge of not just the content, but also the exam technique and skills. I also have a genuine love and passion for Medicine and the sciences, which I hope to pass on to any prospective students – especially those who are hoping to apply for medical school, as I know the feeling and desire of being in that position.
I have specific knowledge of AQA Physics and Biology A-Level, and Edexcel Chemistry A-Level, having taken these exam boards myself. For interviews, I met with St George’s, King’s College London, University of Nottingham, and QMUL. I received offers from Georges’ and Kings in 2022.
Within medicine, I have a deep interest in Paediatrics, being Vice President of our Teddy Bear Hospital society, and having been doing extensive youth work since 2019.
My teaching style
My teaching style aims not just to teach the required content or skills, but to fully involve the student in their own learning process. Understanding how you best learn as an individual is essential for success in further education and the lifelong learning required as a doctor, so lessons are a conversation – back and forth to ensure we have active understanding of a topic, and the skill to be able to teach it back and learn this type of content again.
My past experience
I have been tutoring online since 2021 in a variety of positions ranging from KS3 maths to GCSE Science. I peer-tutored A-Level sciences in 6th form, and now lead study groups in my year at medical school.
My past students have come from a wide variety of backgrounds and levels of understanding, so I hope to be able to work well with whoever my students are.
My Proudest Achievements
Receiving my 1st year exam results for Medical School is definitely my proudest academic moment – knowing that the months of study was worth it and I was one step closer to being a doctor. Receiving my UCAT score of 3290 is also up there.
Outside of academia, I was ranked No.1 in the UK for U15 800m in 2018, which is also one of my proudest achievements.
