10About Me
Hi, I’m Aneesah, I study Computer Science at Cambridge and received A*A*A* in Maths, Further Maths, and Computer Science. I love all things computing, and love to keep up with the latest articles and developments within the field. When I’m not studying, I’m either reading, playing video games, or watching/talking about the latest marvel film or TV show that just came out! At the end of most of my lessons, in the last couple of minutes, I normally suggest super-curriculars to read or watch, to help students develop interests outside of the specification, and give advice on a multitude of different aspects of being a student. My advice spreads across a multitude of topics, such as revision methods, personal statement tips, UCAS advice, general worries, and university choices. I have helped many people over the last year with similar questions, and not too long ago I was the one asking them!
My teaching style
I normally start off a session by asking the student if they have questions about the last lesson. After addressing those questions, I may set a question or walkthrough one to help consolidate the students learning. At this point, I ask the student if they have any topic suggestions or general questions across the whole spec of a certain subject. If so, that’s what I cover in the lesson, if not, I then will look at common topics that students find difficult and teach those based on how comfortable a student is. The way the topic is taught depends on how the student learns and how well they know the topic.
My past experience
I have taught Computer Science GCSE in a 6-week structured revision program to a class full of Year 10s and 11s. I have taught a variety of class sizes: 1-to-1, groups of 4-6, and full classes. Varying in age from Reception all the way up to Year 13.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting into Cambridge and Imperial Computer Science was one of my proudest achievements, as the offer rates for both of those universities are very low for my course. I was also very proud of myself for getting the VISA Scholarship, which means I don’t have to pay tuition fees for my undergraduate degree.
