Ramsay
About Me
Hi, I’m Ramsay, a current maths undergraduate at Exeter College, Oxford. I’ve just finished the first year of my degree, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Other than maths, I love sports, and can be found playing football, rugby or volleyball, especially when home in Bristol. I have a younger brother and a dog who are equally annoying. I’m a very calm person and quite chatty, much to my teachers’ displeasure, but am also very competitive and driven when it comes to things that are important to me, such as playing rugby or my degree. I spend most of my free time hanging out with friends or watching TV (I’m currently watching Game of Thrones so please don’t spoil it). Maths-wise, I think that it is an incredibly rewarding subject, largely because of its difficulty. The times I’ve most enjoyed maths, and made the most progress, have always followed periods of frustration, which makes the eventual breakthrough all the more valuable. I look forward to meeting you and struggling through some maths together 🙂
My teaching style
My teaching style is fairly informal, as I have found that it is easier (and more fun) to learn in a relaxed environment. Lessons will be a combination of going over theory and working through problems together, with my aim being to both challenge and support you through tough questions.
My past experience
I have roughly 50 hours of maths tutoring experience, predominantly A-level and GCSE.
My Proudest Achievements
Playing in my school’s charity rugby match to raise money for A Life for a Cure, or achieving a distinction in round 2 of the British Maths Olympiad.
