About Me
I am currently on my year abroad working at the National Art Gallery of Bremen, an Oxford Lidl Prize recipient and a Notion Campus Leader. I am passionate about making academic settings more accessible and have informally coached several people with their Oxford applications, decisions around courses and Universities, or whether another learning environment was a better fit for them. I have not always found school easy, and really had to work out how to make learning work for me when I started struggling around the first year of GCSEs/National 5s. I find it so rewarding when I do a lot of research into options and manage to make something click for someone! A lot of traditional methods of learning or revision do not work for me, so I have a lot of knowledge of non-traditional approaches which can be exactly what some people need. I am experienced with helping children and adults learn new skills, and many of those children and adults have disabilities including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties or other disabilities.
My teaching style
I do not believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. I want to help whoever I am tutoring to learn to tackle their struggles in a way that teaches them life skills. This means I am focussed on a well-rounded development and teaching extendable skills which can be used to face any future issues, personal or academic!
My past experience
I do not have formal experience with academic tutoring but have experience working with children and adults with disabilities develop skills, coach mental health of children aged 8-18 learning English in a residential summer camp and have done unpaid work tutoring/coaching students applying to Oxford.
My Proudest Achievements
I am one of eight Oxford Lidl Prize recipients (across 2023 & 24) and a Notion CL chosen from the largest batch of applications seen yet
