About Me
Hi! I’m Steph – I have just finished my second year studying chemistry at Oxford University. Having gone to Oxford from a state comprehensive background I recognise the importance of a good education and would love to help inspire as many students as possible to do as well as they can in exams, whilst also fostering a sense of passion and interest in their subject.
I have previously tutored French A-level as well as maths and chemistry at GCSE level, in addition to this, I have helped students from my secondary school attain Oxbridge offers as well as reviewing personal statements which have also gone on to lead to successful applications.
I achieved the highest GCSE and A-Level results in my year and school as well as attaining awards for the best performance in Chemistry and French A-Level, this paired with my previous tutoring experience, I believe, leads to effective tutoring that is also engaging and interesting which is the key to success!
My teaching style
My teaching style is engaging and varied which means students are constantly thinking about concepts, further deepening their understanding. I focus on revisiting ideas in lots of different ways to ensure students retain the information necessary to do well in exams. This paired with engaging lessons which develop a sense of passion for the subject lead to effective tutoring sessions that deliver results as well as being enjoyable and interesting.
My past experience
I have experience in tutoring A-level French 1-to-1 as well as GCSE maths and chemistry. I have also been a personal statement reviewer and have coached students during Oxbridge interviews which have lead to successful applications and offers being received. I have also intermittently worked at a primary school since I was 14 which has developed my skills in supporting students in their education across a wide range of ages. I am also the access and outreach rep for my college at Oxford which has led to me going on school visits and helping students flourish no matter their background.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest academic achievements are being awarded for the best overall performance at both GCSE and A-Level in my school. I am also proud of pursuing a subject I am so passionate about, chemistry, to a high level at university which has led me to enjoy my time at Oxford so much and given me the desire to share this knowledge and experience with other students.
