I learnt about teamwork and also how different medical professionals work together in teams which is what I aspire to work like in the future.  I really enjoyed doing SIMs was a great experience, I’ve never done it before. It was really cool to basically be a doctor. It was a really cool experience.

Throughout this week I really enjoyed the practical element that was given to us. I saw first hand experiences of things like palliative care and practising suturing was really interesting and looking at how to take blood. It taught me how to use my life skills and apply them to the medical and practical aspects which was really interesting.

I’ve liked all the various activities we did this week, in particular when we did the MMI, imitating a real-life MMI scenario and putting me on the spot to answer questions. I also really really enjoyed learning about palliative care and I’ve really enjoyed looking at the simulation and learning about ABCDE for emergency situations and how to respond to a patient.

I liked that we went to the hospice and I learnt how it is to be a doctor or nurse working there. I learnt how much work they put in to caring for people nearing the end of their life. I got some insight about a good and bad death and how they consider so many things. We did medical simulations. Our group had a simulations of a heart attack. At first it was overwhelming but it turned out to be insightful because I got to learn about the symptoms of a heart attack. The dummy was really realistic!
