We believe financial income should not be a barrier, so up to 40% of our places will be given to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds for absolutely free. No, residency in the UK is not a requirement for participation in this programme. It is open to students worldwide who meet the age criteria and are interested in acquiring valuable experience in physics.

This programme offers valuable work experience that can enhance the UCAS personal statement for university applications, making it particularly beneficial for Year 12 students (aged 17-18). Moreover, individuals aged 16-18 and anyone between 14-25 years old can also derive benefits from participating in this programme.

Once booked, the Physics Summer School reservation is non-refundable. This policy is implemented because we need to finalise arrangements for all logistics, including accommodation and room bookings. If you're uncertain about attending but want to secure your spot, you can choose to pay a non-refundable deposit of £500. The remaining payment will be due before the course commences.

Safety is paramount at the Physics Summer School. Your child will be accompanied by the Study Mind Safeguarding team for any required travel. While there may be travel between the accommodation and workshops or excursions, rest assured that your child will be fully accompanied throughout the entire journey.

You'll stay in individual rooms located in Central London, with breakfast and dinner provided. Your accommodation begins on Sunday night, the day preceding the course, with check-out on Friday, amounting to a total of 5 nights. The accommodation is equipped with 24/7 security, and Study Mind staff, trained in first aid and safeguarding, will be present on-site to provide assistance. Additionally, airport pick-up services can be arranged for your convenience.

Students coming to the UK for the Physics Summer School will need a Standard Visitor visa- https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor

The Standard Visitor visa can only be applied for by parents/guardians and costs £100. They must apply through the UK Gov website only, You can name our course and Study Mind as the guardians of under 18s, and provide then the course information and booking confirmation when applying for the visa.

We recommend booking flights first before applying for the visa, as the visa needs proof of a return flight (the course end date might be enough, but might result in rejection).

Throughout the entire programme, your child will receive dedicated support from our Study Mind staff, all of whom have undergone DBS enhanced checks and comprehensive training in first aid and safeguarding. The Physics summer camp runs for five days, starting at 9 am and typically concluding around 3:30 pm each day. However, you will receive a detailed timetable in advance, specifying exact timings for each activity. For those opting to stay at our accommodation, we have arranged entertaining evening activities such as movie nights, bowling, and other engaging options to enhance your experience beyond the classroom.

We acknowledge the difficulties brought about by the current economic climate concerning upfront payments. To offer flexibility, we provide interest-free installment plans spanning 3, 6, and 12 months. However, please be aware that a non-refundable deposit of £500 is necessary to secure your spot.
